CEBV Responds to Partisan Attack

This morning, sitting Arizona state senator Anthony Kern issued a press release disparaging CEBV’s work to educate and inform Arizona voters and calling one of our co-founders an “extremist” with “questionable conduct.”

It's beyond ironic that Kern, who was photographed at the January 6 insurrection and routinely introduces some of the most extreme legislation at 1700 West Washington, would call someone else extreme.

Here are just a few of the bills Kern has introduced this session:

  • SB1028, attacking drag shows and LGBTQ+ youth
  • SB1092, shielding Big Lie lawyers from punishment
  • SCR1002, hamstringing voters’ ability to pass their own laws

Cathy Sigmon doesn't deserve to have her reputation tarnished by trumped-up vindictiveness from a MAGA extremist like Anthony Kern. She is a grandmother of three who is devoting her retirement years to the enrichment of Arizona’s democracy. Who exactly is the real extremist?

CEBV’s work continues

CEBV, Arizona’s only Indivisible group wholly focused on the state level, is proud to have registered over 14,000 Arizonans for the Request to Speak system and trained over 8,000 to use their voices at our state legislature. Our volunteers statewide have helped to stop legislation that would have harmed public school teachers and students, the LGBTQ+ community, our freedoms to vote and choose, public health and safety, and so many other issues. We have also advanced real policy that helps real Arizonans, such as Missing and Murdered Indigenous People and Dignified Changes. And yes, our work on Gavel Watch will also continue. Arizonans need to know which judges allow their decisions to be driven by rigid ideology rather than impartial, fact-based analysis. Feigned outrage from MAGA extremists like Kern only strengthens our resolve to continue to find solutions on behalf of Arizona’s citizens and communities.
